Marylen Grigas Book Launch Party Aug. 13

13690729_609114662600176_4939380535690236772_n-1.jpgOur beloved former English teacher, Marylen Grigas, has published a new book of poems called SHIFT. To celebrate her new book, there will be a poetry reading, book signing, drinks and light fare in the library on Saturday, August 13 from 5:30-7:30.

Marylen's poetry has been published in the New Yorker and Poetry East. Kerrin McCadden, winner of the Vermont Book Award, said of this book:
"Marylen Grigas’s formally rich poems cast a wide gaze — sea squirts, the body, planets, graffiti, fate, Clytemnestra, the neighborhood. Grounded in specificity, Grigas' imagination dances throughout to find order. In this shrewd and lovely collection, Grigas offers an uncluttered wish that 'regrets become egrets.' These are poems to live by, even as they face death — finding grace, calling the wind the 'breath of some large creature who loves us.'"

To get a sense of her work, here is a at the Fletcher Free Library.

Please join us to celebrate Marylen!
