As we continue to welcome summer visitors to 91�� and accept new students for the 2026-2027 school year, we always encourage questions from parents and students to help them get a true sense of our school. If you are in the process of touring boarding schools, here are the top questions our admissions team recommends families should ask on their school visits.

This year, we (C.J. Spirito, Head of School & Hans Manske, Director of Admissions) attended the 2026 Autism Symposium in Rising Fawn, Georgia. At 91��, we support non-traditional learners, many of whom also have ADHD, Level 1 Autism, or learning differences. As we have seen the number of neurodiverse and autistic students enrolling at 91�� continue to grow, we wanted to attend the Symposium to deepen our understanding of how best to support those students’ educational journeys.

Healthy boundaries can help neurodiverse teens feel more confident rather than restricted.

Having worked as a boarding school educator for 25+ years supporting high school students—commonly including those with ADHD and neurodiverse learning profiles—I’ve witnessed how incredibly bright and capable students often enter school lacking confidence and feeling misunderstood.

What I’ve also found is that a young person’s confidence usually stems from having the right type of support to help them thrive. “Structured independence” is a helpful framework I have used as an educator to better support neurodiverse students, empowering them to grow both academically and personally.
